This poetry was written when I was in 5th standard. That is, I was about 10 years old back then. I was inspired to write poetry when our teacher (Milind Sir) encouraged us to take writing as a hobby and his passion for the same kind of rubbed off on me. Note : The poetry is in hindi. My first poetry was in hindi because Milind Sir taught us hindi back then :-).
Raat hui, main so gaya,
Mere ghar ek chor aa gaya
Raat hui, main so gaya,
Mere ghar ek chor aa gaya
Usne mera paisa loota
Cha-chink Cha-chink Cha-chink
Usne mera paisa loota
Aur main neend main tha
Raat hui, main so gaya,
Mere ghar ek chor aa gaya
Raat hui, main so gaya,
Mere ghar ek chor aa gaya
Neend mein main kharate maar raha tha
hwaaaaa-hoooo hwaaaaaa-hoooo
Neend mein main kharate maar raha tha
Usne police siren samjha aur woh bhaag gaya
Raat hui, main so gaya,
Mere ghar ek chor aa gaya
Raat hui, main so gaya,
Mere ghar ek chor aa gaya
Subah ko main bahut roya
Uhuhuhuhuh Uhuhuhuh
Subah ko main bahut roya
Chor aake paise de gaya
Raat hui, main so gaya,
Mere ghar ek chor aa gaya
Raat hui, main so gaya,
Mere ghar ek chor aa gaya
Loose English Translation (Words added to rhyme keeping the gist same) :
Night fell and I fell asleep
A robber then decided to take a peep
Night fell and I fell asleep
A robber then decided to take a peep
He started stealing my money
Cha-chink Cha-chink Cha-chink
He started stealing my money
And I was sleeping like a bunny
Night fell and I fell asleep
A robber then decided to take a peep
Night fell and I fell asleep
A robber then decided to take a peep
In a sound sleep, I started to snore
hwaaaaa-hoooo hwaaaaaa-hoooo
In a sound sleep, I started to snore
Reminded of a police siren, the robber fled to the shore
Night fell and I fell asleep
A robber then decided to take a peep
Night fell and I fell asleep
A robber then decided to take a peep
In the morning I cried a lot
Uhuhuhuhuh Uhuhuhuh
In the morning I cried a lot
The robber returned my money, feeling a knot
Night fell and I fell asleep
A robber then decided to take a peep
Night fell and I fell asleep
A robber then decided to take a peep
